Gage's Journey

In July 2013 Gage dropped a can of soup on one of his toes. The following weekend it started to look infected so we took him to the ER. While he was there they did blood work and it showed that his platelets were low. We were told it was probably nothing to worry about but to follow up with his primary care doctor the following Monday. So we made an appointment and his platelets had dropped ...even lower. His doctor thought he had ITP but wanted to make sure so he sent us to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. So the next day we went to Nashville for more blood work. They came in and told us that he may have Leukemia but they needed to do a bone marrow biopsy to make sure. So late that evening they took him back to do the test.  So we go back the next morning at 9:00A.M. They come in and do more blood work on him and in a couple of hours our whole world was turned upside down. We were told that he did have leukemia but they didn't know what type yet. He was admitted immediately and started on several different types of medications. We later found out he has AML type M-7. His type is very aggressive so he was started on chemotherapy that week. Since his diagnosis he has spent more time in the hospital than at home. He has been such a trooper during everything he has been through!! As of May 12th, the Doctors told his family there was nothing else they could do for him. They have planned Gage's make a wish trip for May 17, That means they are going to try to keep him feeling good enough to go. His birthday is on May 20th. So he will be celebrating with( Hot Dog ) mickey mouse.The Make A Wish Foundation is sending his immediate family to Disney. It is all expense paid for the them. However this does not include his grandma. Please pray for him and his family.
