Gabe's Wheelchair Van Fund

Gabe is a sweet 13 year old who was born with Duchenne's Muscular Distrophy (DMD). DMD is a condition that causes muscle degeneration over time. Gabe's family and friends have watched his situation deteriorate over the years and Gabe is now completely wheel chair dependent.

In recent months, the challenge of transporting Gabe has become more difficult. It is extremely difficult to transfer Gabe in and out of the car and into his wheelchair. Also, Gabe has a motorized wheel chair, which should significantly increase his ability to take part in outside activities; unfortunately, at this point he isn't able to utilize it outside of home or school due to how difficult it is to transport the chair in a regular car. For these two reasons, Gabe and his family need a wheelchair accessable van. These vans are very expensive; even when you can find one used, they cost more than a regular van would cost brand new.

Just as Gabe's need for access to a wheelchair accessible van has increased, the family's financial situation has taken a major hit. Due to a company reorganization, Heather has lost her job as a project manager and is currently looking for work. Although she has saved for well over a year, her current situation has made the purchase of a van uncertain.

We would love to provide Gabe's family with the downpayment for a van. With a wheelchair accessible van, Gabe's family will no longer struggle to transport him, and Gabe will finally be able to fully enjoy the independence and freedom a motorized wheel chair has to offer him and his family.
