After surgery expenses

Donation protected
When my big brother started having trouble remembering words, he contacted his doctor who began systematically testing different things to try to find (or at least rule out) the reason for these lapses in memory.  Until last week, all the tests came back as normal. When it came time for the MRI, he got himself there, just like he had for the previous tests, but unlike them, this one sent him straight to the ER to consult with a neurologist about a lesion on his brain. Later that night, into the next morning, he was careflighted to a neurological hospital where it was determined that the tumor which must be removed immediately. That evening my brother had surgery to remove this growth from his brain. The surgery went well; he called me early the next morning sounding just like he always sounds. His doctors are pleased with the immediate results.

They were able to remove 98% of the tumor; he will need radiation treatments to kill off the remaining tentacles that were too deep into his brain to be cut out surgically. Treatments will be administered daily, Monday through Friday, for a period of four to five weeks. For these treatments, he must return to the hospital where he had the surgery, which is a five hour drive from where he lives. Treatment can begin as soon as February 10.

The funds raised here are to cover expenses for him and his wife for the duration of his treatment.  These expenses include housing, meals,  gas, and other incidentals. Knowing that these necessities are taken care of will allow my brother to focus on healing and my sister-in-law to focus on helping with his care without the added burden of financial concerns.

While the surgical aspects of this situation are well in hand, continuing with the radiation treatments is essential to his full recovery, and necessary to ensure that the remaining tentacles do not grow, possibly creating the need for a subsequent surgery.
