Combs/Thompson Fire Recovery Fund

Donation protected
On Thursday evening, a local fifth grade teacher, Lisa Combs' house caught on fire in Boulder City, Nevada. The cause of the fire is still unknown and our family is still trying to get over the initial shock. Everyone got out safely except for the loss of our four cats who did not get out of the house. There were four people living in the home, my step dad, mom, 17 year old brother & 14 year old sister. Between the fire, smoke & water damage everything is essentially ruined. Not only do they need to rebuild a home, but they will need the essential things to fill it with.

There has been so many people asking us how they can help. It really has been a beautiful thing to see. Boulder City has always been an amazing community, but the fact that we are getting donations dropped off on our front door, bakes sales started for our family, and our own Credit Union account set up is really unbelievably gracious. Right now we are still trying to figure out what exactly is needed and are limited on space to store the items that are given. Thankfully our family still owns the house next door and my mom and family will have a place to stay until they can move back into their home in 7-9 months.

I wanted to give an opportunity for the people who have so badly wanted to help to be able to. We are trying to figure out a way that can be easiest for you and for us. Since space is limited we are trying to move away from the physical donations and more to gift cards and or money donations to this page or the credit union. (Although, we might need a couple twin beds if anyone has them.)

I am so very thankful, humbled and blessed to be able to see this community come around us. Family and friends have been so gracious with their time and money and it is truly a gift from Him. I pray that God would bless you for all your efforts to help us.

We want to give you the opportunity to help us because we know how much you want to. So what exactly can you do?

1) You can donate to this site (gofundme).
2) You can donate to the Boulder Dam Credit Union account in my mom's name. (Melissa Combs, Lisa Combs, Mrs. Combs)
or 3) You can drop off or mail in gift cards to my home.

We are trying to keep it simple, but nonetheless a blessing. As I said before we have not been intentionally trying to not answer all of your questions on how you can help. We were just trying to figure out the best way that can happen.

I am so grateful for the people in our lives and cannot thank you enough for your love and support.

If you have any questions please let me know.

Thank you,

Lisa's daughter, Courtney.
