Hi! My name’s Tanya and I’m starting a fundraiser for my best friend, Monika!

Her and I have been besties for over 30 years! Monika is a wonderful person, who sadly, has had a very tough life! This woman has been through so much, I don’t even know how to begin to describe!

Monika grew up on a farm with her parents, older brother and two younger sisters. She lost her mom when she was 18 years old and took care of her sisters after she died. Monika has worked so hard most of her life and has always taken care of others before herself. She’s given up a lot and yet, she has just been hit with one tragic event after another.

Monika was in a car accident when she about 23 years old that caused a head injury, which led doctors to discover that she had an autoimmune disease called common variable immunodeficiency. Because of this, she ended up having to get her spleen removed. Since then, Monika has had cancer, but survived that.

She has been diagnosed with Interstitial lung disease as well.

She lost her dad years back and then lost her grandfather, whom she was closest to.

On top of all these health issues, Monika’s recently been diagnosed with hepatopulmonary syndrome, which is a form of liver disease and she’s got a clot in her portal vein. She had been on oxygen for over two years, as well as being in and out of hospitals, sometimes being admitted for months. This has caused her be unable to work. She is unable to get enough help from the government to cover the expenses she now has.

Just last month, Monika got the news from her doctor that there’s nothing they can do for her. If they did surgery, she most likely would not make it on the operating table, They basically said live your life & get your affairs in order. The doctors cannot give her an estimated time of how long she will live, but they did say that her condition will get worse and she will not survive this.

Monika is a wonderful person who does not deserve any of this!
