May 14, 2018: As my brave and beautiful niece Kerri plows through chemo and gets closer to the bilateral mastectomy, lymph node removal and reconstruction in 6 weeks, we ask for your continued prayers and support.  Kerri is dealing with an aggressive cancer caused by the extremely rare genetic disorder she has called Bloom's syndrome. Kerri is really feeling the effects of chemo right now, unable to eat much and feeling ill. She continues to be someone who doesn't complain much and is a fighter. I am trying to help  my sister Carla, my niece Kerri and the rest of the family (Kerri's 2 brothers, one of whom also has Bloom's syndrome_ pay  bills during this very difficult time. We are counting on the kindness of family, friends and strangers for continued help with this temporary situation. The family urgently needs help with medical bills, living costs like rent and utilities and food, as there is no income right now. Please help. Your love and generousity are so much appreciated - thank you, thank  you, thanks you from the bottom of our hearts - Kerri's aunt and Carla's sister, Caryl David
May 9, 2018: Hi all - my niece Kerri continues to make her way through chemo in preparation of a bilateral mastectomy in late June. This will be followed by roughly another year of chemo. The family, my sister Carla, Kerri, and brothers Matt and R,J, are still in desperate need of financial support. Kerri of course cannot currently work - she is a behavioral health assistant working with autistic children. Carla, my sister and Kerri's mom, is a teacher of autistic children. Neither one can work until Kerri gets through the bilateral mastectomy at the end of June, and the resconsruction surgery a month later, probably in early August. At this point there is no income for this family. Both Kerri and RJ have Bloom's Syndrome, a very rare genetic disorder which  predisposes them to cancers at young ages. Please help me support them through this difficult time. Kerri is strong and a real fighter. Though she may be tiny at 4'9", she is mighty. Your prayers and your support are so much appreciated, you have no idea. God bless you all.                                                                        March 2018:Hello family and friends - brief update here on my beautiful niece Kerri. On Friday 3/16 Keri was supposed to get her first chemo again (with the new port hopefully in the right spot this time). She intuitively felt that this new port should be checked to see if it was working properly, before getting the infusions of Taxol and Herceptin. After a flow study, this second port was found to be implanted too deeply in the chest to be accessed and there was a huge kink in it - nothing could get through the line. So no chemo for that day either, sadly it was delayed once again. Kerri had the second port surgically removed 3/15 and the following Monday, 3/19, she started all over again with just the 2 drug infusions, receiving chemo in a peripheral vein in her hand.  On Monday, 3/26, she had her 2nd chemo infusion in her arm, where a 3rd chemotherapy agent, Perjeta, was introduced, and a week later she was treated again using a vein in her arm. Since then she has transferred to a new medical facility, Baptist MD Anderson, and had a PICC line implanted just this week on 4/9. Yesterday 4/10, she had her 4th treatment but it was her first chemotherapy at the new facility, which already seems like a much better place to be.  Kerri is facing the side effects of chemo with strength, grace and courage, as she does everything else in her life.

The plan is that Kerri will be done with her first round of chemo, had surgery (currently planned for June/July with 2nd round of chemo following surgery)and be in a better place so she can go back to work for the fall school year. Kerri's mom Carla also looks forward to working after the surgery, as soon as Kerri is back up and running.  Please know that every little bit of support has helped and still aids the family with rent, utilities, medical costs and food from now until September. Thank you from the bottom of the family's hearts for all of your kind and generous support, and for your genuine and heartfelt thoughts and prayers. They are appreciated more than words can convey.
