Get Mark Back On His Feet

A Progressive writer and comrade needs your help. Mark Anthony Rolo writes beautiful and eye-opening pieces for The Progressive, bringing Native American issues into the light. He's struggling with illness and needs all of our support. Here's what he says:

Greetings everyone,

My name is Mark Anthony Rolo. I am an enrolled member of the Bad River Band of Chippewa Indians. For the past 21 years I have been writing on issues facing Indian Country for The Progressive. I spent many years writing about Indian issues for the Progressive Media Project - opinion columns for the nation's newspapers. I also began writing feature pieces for the magazine—from the oil standoff at the Standing Rock reservation to Trump's new war against Indian tribes. In 2012 I published a memoir, My Mother Is Now Earth, and this year I started a twice-monthly column (Going Native) for the magazine's online edition. In 2015 I developed diabetes, and in August this year ended up in the hospital from the disease for three weeks. I am struggling to regain my energy. Neuropathy affects the feet, ankles and legs. I have an exercise program to help restore strength, but I can't do physical work and my finances are not adequate for me to get my own permanent housing.
