Ghana Study Abroad

Hello,

Thank you for opening this email and I hope that you are doing well. I am finishing up my second year at the University of Denver and it sure has been a rollercoast. I am very excited to be ending this school year and looking forward to Junior year. The University of Denver has a very good study abroad program that they offer to third and fourth year students. I have been accepted into the Ghana, Africa Program. 

I will be studying abroad this coming fall in Ghana, Africa at the University of Ghana. During this experience I will be taking courses as well as volunteering at a community center. Honestly, at this point in my life I do not have much of a global appreciation, which explains my lack of global perspective. Having the opportunity to place myself in a new environment outside of my country will force me to look at the world globally and not just from an American perspective. Full immersion into this host culture will also challenge me to step outside of my comfort zone and learn more about myself. 

I qualified for the Cherrington Global Scholars program which pays for most of my study abroad experience, but I am now raising funds to supplement that scholarship. This supplemental money will provide me the opportunity to purchase my visa, cover any uncovered travel expenses, travel and explore the country, and provide some spending money while there.
