Help me reach my full potential as an educator!
This summer I hope to be enrolled in a certification program at West Side Montessori's Teacher Education Program here in New York City to become a certified primary teacher under American Montessori Society's standards. Receiving this certification will not only better prepare me to serve in the classroom, but will open many more doors for me in the future.
I have worked with children since I myself was only 12 years old babysitting for the neighbors. At 14 I got my first job at a day camp I attended many years before as a counselor, and did this for the next 4 summers. At 18 I did my internship through my high school at a local Daycare as an aide. After High school I worked as a nanny for a couple of families ranging from 1 child to 6! I absolutely love what I do. I love to help a young mind discover and explore the many wonders we have around us.
I currently am an assistant teacher at a Montessori School in New York City where I was first introduced to the Montessori Method. I am my happiest at work. Laughs that are music to my ears, and smiles that melt my heart are only some of the perks of working with children of such a bright and eager age. My passion for learning and working with children has only expanded through Maria Montessori's ways in the classroom. She has introduced a way of teaching I believe in without a doubt.
The program I plan to enter is a 6-week intensive during the summer at West Side Montessori School. The program consists of 300 hours of coursework and a student-teaching phase during the school year. The full tuition of the program is $7,400 plus a $1,375 registration fee. I have the great fortune of working for a company that will sponsor me through the program by covering a percentage of the tuition and providing my student-teaching experience. Any contribution that you can make will help to make this dream a reality for me and will also benefit all children whom I teach every day!
