Please help Sandy

This is being set up to help my mother Sandy Miskimon.  She has Interstitial Lung Disease (AKA Pulmonary Fibrosis).  There is no cure and unfortunately the medical bills are piling and getting atransplant is extremely expensive.  Insurance only covers a percentage which many of us know is hardly enough.  Here is my mothers story.

Sandy is married to Robert Miskimon, has two daughters, and two grandaughters. Her eldest daughter, Robin is married and has one daughter, named Samantha who is four. Sandy's younger daughter, Jamie, is married as well with a brand new baby girl of her own, her name is Jemma. Family means everything to Sandy and she will literally bend over backwards for them. For the past seven years, Sandy and Robert have been the primary caretakers of Sandy's elderly Mother, they moved her from Texas and she lives in their home. Several years prior to Sandy and Robert taking in Sandy's mother, Sandy took care of her father for two years until he passed. Sandy gives and gives and gives and has never asked for anything in return. Her smile lights up the room, she has one of the best senses of humor around, and is by far one of the most compassionate, caring women we know.

In November of 2013 Sandy fell ill. Sandy was having shortness of breath and felt abnormally tired at times. Robert and Sandy made an appointment withe her PcP, he/she advised them to have a chest x-ray done. The x-ray reading was abnormal, they were in turn referred to a specialist to have a biopsy of her lungs. Sandy and Robert were given a heart breaking diagnosis, Interstitial Lung Disease (AKA Pulmonary Fibrosis). Sandy was sent home oxygen dependent. Since November, her health has declined, it was determined that Sandy would need a double lung transplant at some point in time.

On April 1, 2014, Sandy had extreme difficulty breathing and was admitted to Johns Hopkins Intensive Care Pulmonary Disease Unit. Sandy has been in this unit ever since. Since she has been admitted she has also found out that she has an 80% blockage in an artery in her heart and has discovered other possible ailments. The surgery required is high risk and can not be performed without a clear diagnosis of her other issues.

Robert is spending his time between the hospital with Sandy and at home taking care of sandy's mother. As you could imagine it is a very difficult time for the Miskimon family and they need our help. We have decided to start this group to open a support center for the family and to accept donations to help the family with the heavy burden of the medical expenses. Sandy has been a rock for so many, we think it's time to return the favor. Support is what she needs and wants. We greatly appreciate any help and we will work vigilantly to update the group on Sandy's progress and well being.

This has been really hard on our family. My mother has been in the hospital for over a month and has not even met her grand daughter. It has been so emotional and difficult not being able to share my baby girl with my mother and not having her here with me. I know it is killing her not being able to hold her new grand baby and we have no news on if and when she may come home.

Please share this with your friends and any help is appreciated.
