My name is Chris Madrid, and I have been diagnosed with T cell rich, B cell Non-Hotchkins Lymphoma. It is a very aggressive cancer that requires a very aggressive treatment.
For those of you that know me, you can understand why this is so difficult for me to compose. For those of you that don't, I will do anything for my family, and in all my life I have never encountered a scenario, obstacle, challenge, or road block that I have not been able to overcome on my own. Cancer.......very humbling. In my short bout, I have quickly learned that no human can fight hard enough by themselves. They require good doctors-treatment, a wonderful family, and wonderful friends.
The other day, my beautiful, angel wife, and now full time caretaker of me, were speaking about my apprehension of creating a go fund me account. She was able to help me make the connection between, asking for help, and my commitment of doing everything I can for my family. She told me " Don't be ashamed, be proud of yourself". She was right, when isn't she.
I am proud. These funds will be going toward making my family whole. This treatment process is very expensive. To name a few; tests and treatments, transportation, special foods I must eat, special medical safety clothing my family must wear to interact with me. Although I am fortunate to have short term disability benefits with my employer, in total, they are not nearly enough to cover all the cost involved with the six month, possibly more, treatment process.
I only wish to keep my family whole. I am only trying to support a simple home, one vehicle for transportation, and the ability for my thirteen year old daughter to have normalcy in her life. Although six months is a long time for treatment, after I fight and win this battle with cancer, everything will return to normal. I would like to not have to turn my family's life upside down by having to sell my home and start over again.
I do not possess the words in my vocabulary to express my gratitude to all that acknowledge this composition. So please allow me to close like this.
