Bring Louie Home

My name is Jessica Golden, and our pup Louie has been lost in the Kenna Cartwright Park in Kamloops BC since November 30.  My partner Mack and I got Louie in January and as a young couple without children, we very quickly fell in love with this sweet, energetic, athletic dog.  He is now 1 year old and we simply can't imagine life without him and the immense joy he brings to us and everyone who meets him.  It took us 7 years to finally agree that the timing was right to get a dog and that he was the right one for us, and we cannot accept that he could be taken from us so soon.  Mack is often away from home for work and Louie has become not only my baby, but my best friend and constant companion.  His love and energy keep me going when loneliness and anxiety threaten to take over.

Louie is a young intact male kelpie x mini aussie and may have run off to chase deer or a female dog, but since we are visiting from Quesnel, he is unfamiliar with the landscape and does not know how to get back to my parent's house where we were staying.  Since then, we have hiked the trails and bushwacked off-trail extensively, and had numerous other hikers out actively looking for him thanks to flyers, posters, and the reach of social media. The community wants desperately to find our pup, but we have not had a single sighting in the park since he was lost.  His kennel has been placed where he was last seen, as well as numerous articles of our clothing along the trail.  We've also had Richard from Hummingbird Drones graciously volenteer his time to fly a drone with thermal imaging capabilities over some of the area, but due to the proximity of the local airport, the scope of this search was limited.

Between the two of us we have hiked some 100+ km in the past 4 days, and we are physically, mentally & emotionally breaking down.  We are at the point of desperation and need to bring in professional help.  The thought of never knowing what happened to Louie, and feeling that we didn't do absolutely everything in our power to find him is agonizing.

The purpose of this Go Fund Me is to hire a professional who can track, locate, and return Louie to his family. They typically charge a travel fee of anywhere between $1.00-$1.50 per km round trip. This could mean $1500.00+ just for travel as there are no companies near Kamloops. They then require a daily fee on location. One company I have researched requires $1900.00 per day, and the cost will vary depending on the length of time to search, track, and recover Louie.

There is a lot of coyote activity in the area, and the weather is starting to turn, making this a time sensitive matter.  As temperatures drop & snow continues to fall Louie's chance of survival dwindles.  We would like to get the search going tomorrow (Dec. 4th) if at all possible.  Please give what you can; help to reunite us with our darling boy. He truly means the world to us, and every moment spent imagining worst-case scenarios is soul-crushing.  The response and support from friends, family, and strangers so far, has been overwhelming; I know this community can help bring Louie home to us.
