Help My Mom Pay Her Chemo Bills

My mother was diagnosed on December 5th 2018 with a rare type of leukemia called Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. I have been dedicated to taking care of my mom. However, since I was in the process of applying to physical therapy school, I had spent all my time and effort on the prerequisite steps I needed to take in order to be accepted that I did not have a full time job when she was diagnosed.

During the intense treatment I was not able to work at all because I was her 24/7 care taker as instructed by the doctor. Thankfully, now in May my mom is doing better, but is unable to work for approximately one year by the doctor’s order, so I have found two jobs but it will not cover all her bills and mine.  My mom is waiting for the bone marrow transplant and meanwhile the doctors are treating her with chemo and medicine. She is unable to apply for disability because we were told by the social worker that she needs to be a green card holder for 7 years minimum. My mom has only been a green card holder for 3 years. This amount will help us cover all the costs we have accumulated from medical bills.  Since my mom isn’t working and insurance doesn’t cover all the costs, we really need help paying regular bills and some medical bills. We really appreciate your generosity. My younger brother and I are also working and we are helping with everything we can. Thank you so much. 

What my mom is doing to fight this cancer:

-eating as healthy as she can
-going outside to breathe fresh air
-thinking positively and smiling 
-going to church every time she is able to
-helping other people in need
-giving bible studies 
-sharing food with people that need it
-baking Bolivian goods to sell to friends for income
-not laying in bed when she feels strong enough
-trusting in her Savior

Mi madre fue diagnosticada el 5 de diciembre de 2018 con un tipo raro de leucemia llamada Leucemia linfoblástica aguda. Me he dedicado a cuidar de mi mamá. Sin embargo, desde que estaba en el proceso de postular a la escuela de fisioterapia, había dedicado todo mi tiempo y esfuerzo a los pasos necesarios que tenía que tomar para ser aceptado que no tenía un trabajo de tiempo completo cuando le diagnosticaron.

Durante el tratamiento intenso, no pude trabajar en absoluto porque era su cuidadora las 24 horas, los 7 días de la semana, según las instrucciones del médico. Afortunadamente, ahora, en mayo, mi madre está mejorando, pero no puede trabajar durante aproximadamente un año por orden del médico. Entonces he encontrado dos trabajos pero no cubrirá todas sus cuentas y las mías. Mi madre está esperando el trasplante de médula ósea y, mientras tanto, los médicos la están tratando con quimioterapia y medicamentos. No puede solicitar una discapacidad porque el trabajador social nos dijo que debía ser titular de una tarjeta de residencia durante un mínimo de 7 años. Mi madre solo ha sido titular de una greencard durante 3 años. Esta cantidad nos ayudará a cubrir todos los costos que hemos acumulado de las facturas médicas. Realmente apreciamos su generosidad.



Lo que mi mamá está haciendo para combatir este cáncer:


-comer tan sano como pueda

-Salir al aire libre para respirar aire fresco.

-pensando positivamente y sonriendo

- ir a la iglesia cada vez que ella pueda

- ayudar a otras personas necesitadas

-dar estudios bíblicos

-Compartiendo la comida con las personas que la necesitan.

-produciendo productos bolivianos para vender a amigos por ingresos

-No acostarse todo el día en la cama cuando se siente lo suficientemente fuerte.

-confiando en su salvador
