Family Hurricane Maria Support

Hurricane Maria struck Puerto Rico on September 20th, 2017 as a high-end Category 4 hurricane. In it's path of destruction, it left catastrophic damage and a humanitarian crisis in Puerto Rico, being the tenth-most intense Atlantic hurricane on record. Puerto Rico's electrical grid was destroyed, leaving over 3 million people without power for anywhere from 4-6 months.

As many of you know, I am Puerto Rican and have extended family who live in Puerto Rico who were impacted by the devastation of Hurricane Maria. I have posted a photo of one of my cousins, Robert, before the hurricane. He is my age, 24 years old and currently lives in Mayaguez, PR. Robert and my extended family are in need of food and water.  Robert has described the situation him and his family are facing throughout the past few weeks - there is no food or drinks in drugstores such as Walgreens, clean water is scarce
 and there is no hope for power - the earliest the government is projecting is December 15th to rebuild the electricity grid. With the little phone signal he has, he has told me he is eating once a day, even with the food that FEMA is distributing.

I would like to ask for your help in raising money to help Robert, his family, and all Puerto Ricans who are hopeless as they struggle to get basic necessities that we all take for granted. Puerto Ricans are Americans too - please come together as a community to help your fellow Americans. 

I will utilize these funds to buy supplies for my family and ship them in boxes to their respective homes. I will also allocate half of the funds I raise to the Unidos por Puerto Rico initiative. United for Puerto Rico is an initiative brought forth by the First Lady of Puerto Rico, Beatriz Rosselló, in collaboration with the private sector, with the purpose of providing aid and support to those affected in Puerto Rico by the passage of Hurricane Irma and Hurricane María. 100% of the proceeds will go to helping the victims affected by these natural disasters in Puerto Rico.
