Actors, Models, & Talent for Christ Trip

Many Christians ask themselves, "What's God's calling for my life? What's my purpose?" God clearly revealed to me in sixth grade that I was called to be an actor. I attended the University of Illinois at Chicago for acting beginning in 2007. The program was, imaginably, pretty liberal; the Lord really put my faith and integrity to the test. I was able to reach out and share the Gospel not only to my peers and professors through relationship, but through work that I wrote, directed, and acted in. I graduated from the program in 2011 and received my Bachelor's in Fine Arts in Theater Performance. After graduation, I was ready to hit the ground running and take the theater world by storm.

After two years of trying to fit into the acting business, I found myself frustrated and confused because I wasn't working in the field I thought I was called to, until it finally sank in.

While I was struggling to find consistent work as a professional actor, a handful of people told me I should audition for Actors, Models, and Talent for Christ (AMTC). AMTC is "a non-profit ministry dedicated to making good bolder in film, fashion, music and theater. We prepare and educate aspiring talent called by God to GO into the mission field of entertainment, where they can make a difference" (amtcworld.org). After much consideration, I auditioned and, by God's grace, I was the #1 Actor and #2 Model out of 570 people that auditioned that day. This is not an agency that solely finds work for talent; it acts as a missionary organization preparing and equipping Godly, talented people to be the light of Christ in their select crafts.

So what happens now? Now that I've auditioned for AMTC and have been enrolled in their program, AMTC Talent are invited to what's called the SHINE event. This is a week-long showcase where casting directors from some of the top networks (ABC, NBC, FOX, Paramount, etc.) will be there to watch the AMTC Talent audition, scouting out the talent they think would be successful. Does it stop there? No. This is only the launching pad. Once relationships are made with these directors and producers, talent then work with whomever they connected well with and continue to be a light on and off the set. All the while, AMTC will continue to coach/mentor me through this next season of intense pursuit of what I believe God has called me to.

After much prayer, fasting and seeking the advice of men and women that I trust, I believe that my wife Courtney and I are supposed to attend SHINE this winter (December 30 - January 4). I'm asking that you pray for me and Courtney as we, in faith, take this bold step into what we believe is God's calling for us. Pray that we stay strong in this mission; that we not waiver because of certain job offers or temptations, and that we represent Christ and share His love with all we encounter.
