I have Multiple Sclerosis, a neuro-autoimmune disease that tricks your body into thinking things like your brain, spinal cord, and optic nerves are invaders that must be destroyed. I’ve also survived two traumatic brain injuries which each caused a host of issues.

<div>I must manage symptoms including but not limited to a constant debilitating migraine with light and sound sensitivity, nausea/vomiting, balance issues, numbness, tingling, internal vibrating, loss of gross and fine motor control, bladder dysfunction, pelvic floor dysfunction, confusion, disorientation, speech difficulties, orthostatic hypotension, depression, anxiety, and more.

<div>I use assistive devices like a wheel chair, walker, cane, and shower chair. I often require a lot of assistance with my daily living activities. I’m unable to work, drive, or often perform basic self-care without assistance.

<div>While treatments that increase my quality of life SIGNIFICANTLY do exist, they are incredibly expensive. The pain treatments, the treatments that have given me some semblance of hope and relief, are the most difficult to obtain. Right now, our best option for obtaining these treatments is not covered at all by insurance, cost hundreds out of pocket with no payment plan options, and are needed every other month.

<div>For a regular check up with my MS specialist, we have to travel an hour and a half each way. Those travel expenses add up quickly, especially for a lower income person.

<div>The Disease Modifying Drug I am prescribed is a chemotherapy drug that comes with the risk of many potential side effects that I will need to manage.
