Help Selina Preserve Black History

I turn 60 on September 15th. For my birthday, I’d be honored if you supported The Pink House Project, a vision led by my friend Selina Lewis Davidson to create a center for Black history-keeping in Monroe, Louisiana.

The Pink House will be a place for preserving and celebrating Black life, culture, foodways, and truth. Selina’s vision gives me hope, especially in a time when telling the truth about Black history, and American history, is being challenged and erased. Already, she is bringing that vision to life through Pink House Pop-Ups, traveling history-keeping events across the South.

This dream has deep roots. In our shared journey to explore what repair and healing look like, Selina discovered a house with powerful meaning: the home where her great aunt, the matriarch of her family, worked as a domestic her entire life. Selina is now purchasing that very house to transform it into a center for gathering, education, and joy. We’re making this dream real, step by step.

If you are considering a major gift and would prefer to contribute through our fiscal sponsor, please reach out to me or Selina directly. Thank you for supporting Selina’s dream and for honoring those who came before us, while helping us build something beautiful for today and the future.
