Help Mike and Dawn (Luther) Porter

Dawn (lLuther) Porter and her husband need help. Dawn is my cousin. Mike Porter went into the hospital about 1 month ago for a standard hernia operation when the doctors found that he was full of a very rare cancer. The doctor gave him only about two weeks to live. He was taken to Stanford Medical Center about 300 miles from their home. They felt they could prolong his life. He had surgery on April 24th and was expected to go home in one week. Mike's surgery was very invasive and extensive and he is not responding as expected. The date for him to go home keeps getting extended. As of today it looks like it will be at least another few weeks before he could possibly go home. Dawn has been by his side since he got there. She is far from home in Northern California and all her family is about 5 hours south in Santa Maria. She had been staying at a motel close to the hospital. The family has exhausted their funds and Dawn is now sleeping on a chair at the hospital.
Dawn (Luther) Porter was born and raised here in Santa Maria and attened local schools. She worked for Costco until recently when they move to Mineral. A lot of you know that Dawn lost her only sibling about 1 year ago. This is tractic, She is only 46 years old and they have been married only 9 years. Dawn is devasted and alone there. It is our hopes to help Dawn stay there in a motel and to help with the rising medical cost.
