Kim Patson Clark, a mother of 4 beautiful girls; Chanel (16), Sydney (12), Sadie (8) and Elayna (6); has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 37. Unfortunately, this is not an unknown journey for Kim, as her own mom recently fought and won her own battle with breast cancer.
While struggling to cope with the physical, spiritual and emotional fight ahead of her, Kim is already forced to face the reality of seemingly unsurmountable financial burdens. As many are aware, Kim has managed the business office at Camp Sloane for several years. Preparing for her surgeries and treatments (that will include chemotherapy) through the Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven, at the busiest time of the year for a youth camp, Kim has had to make the difficult decision to resign from her position effective immediately. Knowing what the loss of wages will inevitably bring financially, Kim has also been told she will possibly need up to an additional $1,000 a month to COBRA her health insurance.
Fighting cancer should not be secondary to trying to sustain your family. Please friends, reach into your hearts and help this family. Ease their burden, even if just in a small way, every little bit counts and will be graciously welcomed. Let's all empower Kim to focus on her battle, not her bills. Know that if it were you, Kim would be the first to offer help in any way she could.
