Houston Metro Police Officer Phillip DeJesus Suarez Jr. 41, husband of Marcy Suarez, passed away in his home on Sunday, May 04, 2014, in the loving arms of his sweetheart and surrounded by his family. He courageously fought a yearlong battle with terminal cancer; Stage IV Metastatic Cancer of the Gallbladder, which quickly spread to his vital organs. Despite numerous rounds of Radiation and Chemo Therapy, medicine ultimately failed him. During his final moments, he never gave up on life, he fought tirelessly to live for his wife and children, but his body eventually gave up on him.
Officer Suarez leaves behind his wife of 16 years, and three young children: Angelina 13, Phillip 11 and Joseph 9. The loss of their loving husband and father can never be healed, but we hope this Trust Fund will help to honor and secure for them, the bright future Phillip would have wanted for his children.
Phillip served his community thru the Houston Metro Police Department for over 8 years. There was not a single thing he would not selflessly do for his fellow brothers and sisters in blue. He was known to many as a Gentle Giant, and a true Hero to his family and closest friends.
A loss in Law Enforcement affects so many, in so many different ways, spreading to the farthest reaches of our Blue Family. Death is confusing and painful for those left behind. For those of you struggling with loss, grief takes time (as long as you need), it is experienced in different ways (your way is best), and it is full of ups and downs. Together we shall support one another and pray for healing.
