Matt and I have been married for almost 4 years. We have traveled and had many great experiences in our life. But we are ready for something bigger than ourselves. Due to my husband's spinal cord injury we can not make a baby the old fashion way but with a lot of money and science we will be able to start on our IVF journey.
IVF (In Vitro Feralization) What we have to do to make a family is get Matt's sperm out with a procedure and then they freeze the good ones. Since Matt can't ejaculate because of his SCI, I (Sloan) have to start a bunch of hormonal shots and medications to produce and hopefully get 10+ eggs. I will have a surgery to harvest the eggs. The next step is they put Matt's sperm and my egg in a dish to create an embryo with science. Then the doctors will put the embryo back into to me and HOPEFULLY all is well and it will take and we will be pregnant. Things happen and you might have to repeat the procedures more than once. It's a very expensive but will be well worth it for our future family.
We have already started the process and Matt has gotten his sperm out (we found some!) We had a scare for a while there. Now, I'm starting my treatments and I am hoping my body handles things well and will stay healthy. I am planning on working so I can keep earning an income to support our family. A big payment is due the end of October so I have been busting my butt to make things work.
We are a prideful couple and I know everyone is struggling with something so I have a hard time asking for help and being vulnerable. Already, my heart has been exploding by the amount of support we have receive opening up our lives with others and my spirit has been humbled by the love of others.
The money will go toward medications, surgeries, procedures, storing the frozen sperm and eggs and medical bills.
Anything helps and doesn't go unnoticed. We APPRECAITE the love and support more than you know.
