YWAM Mission Trip: Around the World

Donation protected
Following your dreams isn't always the easiest path to take in life. But it sure is the most rewarding.

About eight months ago, after I returned from an overseas trip to Europe, I struggled to know where it was in life I wanted to go next. I assumed taking a gap year would be the cure to my confusion and would be enough time to find clarity in a university course, but nothing seemed to settle in my spirit. What's more, my parents decided to make an international move to New Zealand, which left me wondering where it is I wanted to live and what I wanted to do with my life.

That's when my dream of going to YWAM (Youth With A Mission) began. Ever since I went on a mission trip to Cambodia when I was young, I felt a missionary calling on my life, and desired to go out and hopefully make some kind of difference in the world. YWAM is a program designed for young Christians with a passion to see the world changed for good and for God, and that's exactly the passion that had been stirring in my heart.

One day, as I was researching YWAM possibilities, I came across an "Around The World" DTS (Discipleship Training School) in Denver, Colorado. This DTS involves 2 months of equipping and training for the mission field at the school in Denver, then a 3-month outreach around the world, to 6-7 countries, whereby we serve the community and share the love of God in a practical and real way. It is not a conversion trip- it is simply a mission to outreach to the people in the world and show them the love of God.

As soon as I read about this program I felt the dream inside me growing; dreams to deepen my relationship with God, dreams to go out in to the world and serve him, dreams to help those who are lost and broken, dreams to travel the world, dreams to see a world greater than my own.

It has been an incredible journey and test of faith in preparing for YWAM. My move to New Zealand was motivated by knowing I needed to live at home and save up all the money I could to fulfill my dream. It was an extremely hard decision, knowing I would  have to leave my friends and my Brisbane life behind. But I was comforted in knowing God had a plan in all this and the way he has been providing for me has been incredible. Within only a month of being in Auckland, he blessed me with two great jobs and a church to call home.

For a few months, my financial goal has seemed so far from my reach, and it has been a struggle to know whether or not I would be able to save the money in time. Although I have been doing everything in my power to reach my financial goal in terms of working and saving, it still feels like there is a marathon ahead. However, I am constantly reminded that God is always faithful, and if it is his will for me to go to YWAM, the finances will come.

It has been incredible how blessed I've been already. I am lucky enough to have amazing parents, friends and a boyfriend who have all been so supportive of my dream to go to YWAM, blowing me away with their encouragement and financial support.

Now I am putting the call out to my wider circle of friends, family and colleagues. I am seeking sponsorship in order to help me fulfill my dreams of going to YWAM in Denver on June the 23rd. I am putting forth a huge goal of raising $5000 to go towards funding my five-month DTS.  Even a tiny contribution would mean the world to me- I am beyond grateful to everyone who already has and is willing to donate. It is your generosity that will send me on this mission trip and make my dream become a reality.

I want everyone who does donate to be apart of my journey. I will be keeping you all updated on my time in Denver and my travels around the world with YWAM on my travel blog- Polkadot Passport, and of course on Facebook and Instagram. At the moment, the potential locations we will be going to during our outreach stage include: Argentina, Indonesia, Nepal, South Africa, Budapest and Thailand. I am extremely excited to both explore and shine Gods light in to these places.

Thank you in advance for all your prayers and support. Can't wait to keep you all updated on the journey!
