Bring Bentley Home!
Donation protected
My name is Jessica Grest and I'm fundraising for my best friend, Alexa Dale, and her dog Bentley. Bentley is a 9 year old, 16 lb schnauzer mix. Alexa adopted him from the Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter in 2016, and he has been her whole world ever since.
On November 29, 2023, Bentley started showing signs of illness or injury. He was very lethargic, could hardly stand or walk, and would not eat. Alexa originally thought he may have injured his back leg from jumping on/off the couch or bed. After giving him dog aspirin and joint supplements, and making him kennel rest, Bentley was not getting better. 3 days later Alexa brought him to his vet who advised her to bring him to MedVet, which is an emergency vet. Bentley was examined, and the vet told Alexa that it may be a spinal injury and was given pain and inflammation meds, and anacid. The meds were not working, and Bentley started to get worse with bloody diarrhea and throwing up. Alexa brought him back to his regular vet, and the vet instructed her to bring him back to MedVet because he had a 103 degree fever. MedVet informed Alexa that Bentley had to be hospitalized because of the fever, and he has been in the vet hospital since Tuesday, December 5th. MedVet has been doing extensive testing and imaging ever since, and unfortunately, they have not been able to indicate what the cause of his illness is. Bentley's fever is not breaking and is showing no signs of recovery. Alexa has spent over $10,000 in vet bills with no answers or solutions yet.
Bentley is the sweetest, gentlest, loving, good boy you'll ever meet, and it breaks our hearts that he is in pain. We are asking for any donations you can give to bring Alexa's beloved fur baby home. Large or small, anything will help Alexa pay for Bentley's vet bills, testing, and treatment. We would truly appreciate it and will give updates on Bentley's condition!
