Ecuador Earthquake Relief
Donation protected
On April 16, 2016, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Ecuador, leaving at least 650 people death, and 16,000 injured. The earthquake caused devastating damage to houses, buildings, roads and communication systems, and the survivors need your help.
I have partnered with with Irene Samaniego and Maria Cecilia Nieto, who have attended school in South Dakota for the last five years, but have their entire families in their home country, Ecuador. Thankfully their families are safe, but many around them have been left without a roof over their heads.
Over 800 buildings and homes have been destroyed, and it is going to take years for Ecuador to recover, but you can contribute to the country’s recovery, starting today. As soon as we reach our goal, Irene will be withdrawing these funds so they can go to “Techo Ecuador,” a non-profit organization that we are working with, that mobilizes youth volunteers to fight extreme poverty in Latin America, by constructing housing and implementing social inclusion programs. Techo Ecuador has delivered 3.310 houses around the country, and their priority is to rebuild the region that has been affected by the earthquake now.
Thousands have lost their homes, and we need to act quickly to avoid a cycle of homelessness in the affected region of the country. Please donate and share this.
We are a small country, with the tallest volcano, the most diverse rainforest, the most beautiful islands and the biggest heart.
