Mandy is my youngest daughter. She just turned 28 years old and has a beautiful little boy named Greyson, who is 3 1/2 years. old. Unfortunately, all of her troubles began with the pregnancy. Before Greyson she was a typical healthy person but with the pregnancy started the kidney stones... through the entire pregnancy, sometimes requiring hospitalization. She made it through the pregnancy and had a difficult birth that finally ended with a cesarean section. Not sure with which hospital stay (or elsewhere) it happened but she ended up with a bad baceria that went undiagnosed for a very long time. Finally, she was sent to an infectious disease doctor and was diagnosed with the flesh eating bacteria called Group B Streptococcus. She has had no insurance throughout this entire process and got on TennCare which is Tennessee's government issued insurance. They've not been all that helpful. As her problems grew larger they seemed to pay for less and less. They will not pay for any brand name drugs, and for her problems the medications are never generic. Most of the cost has fallen on her father and I and has grown to be desperate times for us. We have fallen on all family members for help and couldn't have made it this far without them. Now, she has MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphlococcus aureus) on both breasts and just sweating creates extremely painful boils which make her so sick that she can barely take care of herself, much less her son. The boils have been occuring for a couple of years now and are only getting worse. The most recent bombshell the doctors dropped on us is that if she does not have a breast reduction SOON, this could turn into breast cancer. They are also somewhat concerned that the MRSA is in such close proximity to her heart. She has been given chemotherapy to help kill this bacteria but it just isn't enough. This surgery could very possibley save her life and our hopes and prayers are just that she can once again lead a normal life and finally be a full-time mommy to Greyson. We know times are tough for everyone these days and it pains us to have to resort to asking for help, especially as we all need it one way or another. I thank everyone even if you can only offer a prayer and I also pray that peace be with all of you. Our family thanks you with all of our hearts.
