When I asked those close to Jeanne to use one word to describe her, the words that kept appearing were: caring, amazing, loving, devoted, dedicated, nice, thoughtful & strong, just to mention a few...
Jeanne is the proud mother of Jessica (20) & Christine (19) and for the past 30 years has given her love, care and respect to seniors working in care facilities in both Ontario & BC.
In 2000 Jeanne met Donny, a man she fell deeply in love with and who became an amazing step father to her daughters who at that time were 5 & 6. They spent many summers camping in Penticton and loving the outdoors. Sadly, Donny was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in 2010 and Jeanne took time off work to care for Donny until his passing in July 2012 (one day before her birthday).
Our friend Jeanne has now been diagnosed herself with Stage 4 Cancer. Weakened but not ready to give up her fight, Jeanne is now leaving her career as a Care giver on Monday (December 14th) to start chemo treatments. Although Jeanne has just applied for Long term disabiity there is a 5 month waiting period and UI will offer only 50% of her wages...
This is where her family, friends, co-workers and strangers are needed. We all need to do what we can to help Jeanne and her daughters carry on physically, emotionally and financially. This is a giving time of year, please find it in your hearts to help this courageous soul sister.
