PLEASE NOTE: 1.) All contributions raised here will go towards my maintenance funds, which I am urgently trying to raise to cover my rent, books, food and equipment while studying my MSc at The University of Oxford.

2.) I have officially raised enough funds for my tuition fees - I have signed my student contract and confirmed my place before the required deadline. Thank you all, for your help and continued support! (04/09/2014)

_______________

I graduated from the University of Surrey, with a 1st class degree in Economics with Finance, 1st place in the UK Economic Challenge (awarded by the higher education academy), work experience as a Junior Economist at HM Treasury and a final year scholarship. After graduating I founded a charity project against gun and knife crime in my local community. I then worked for The British Red Cross and a smaller charity called the Howard League for Penal Reform, as a door-to-door fundraising team leader.

Shortly after the charity work I was blessed with an opportunity at The Commonwealth Secretariat, working as a Research Assistant. My work consisted of research for Economists on topics such as, financial inclusion, debt swaps, climate change, pension funds and private equity in developing countries, especially African and Caribbean regions.

In the space of a year, I developed strong relationships with influential leaders and gained a clearer vision of my career goals. Despite being the youngest Research Assistant at 24 and the only one without a Masters degree, I was able to stand out and make a difference in the Economic Affairs Division of The Commonwealth Secretariat. I was also sent to Sierra Leone, where I saw poverty on a large scale and worked with the Central Bank to address financial literacy gaps in the country.

I was advised by colleagues to study a Masters degree once my contract at The Commonwealth ends - which will allow me to build on my experience and progress. In response, I applied to study an MSc in Economics for Development at the University of Oxford. This course will train me to apply economics to a wide range of issues such as poverty, inequality and international trade, placing me in a good position to progress in my international development career and make a positive change within the world.

I have a vision for International Development and strongly believe that change is possible in this world.

After a very competitive application process (the University only admits 30 students out of hundreds of applicants), I received good news of being offered a place to study an MSc in Economics for Development at The University of Oxford. I have accepted this offer, and the next step is to provide the University with financial proof, of my ability to pay the course fees by 1 August 2014. I am now in search to receive sponsorships and contributions to cover these fees. So far I have sent requests to charities, trusts, loan applications and scholarship applications. We have raised just over £5,000 from private sponsors and community projects (as at 01/06/2014) However my funding package is still in deficit. I am now turning to friends, family and my community for support.

I would be most grateful if you could contribute towards my funding package, as I am unable to afford and achieve these goals alone, even a small contribution would be helpful and appreciated. I am also looking for further  advice and guidance in ways to raise funds before 1 August 2014.

Note: Cheques for amounts exceeding £500 can be sent directly to the University of Oxford, Wolfson College, which I will provide you details for.

I will be dedicating an hour of charity work over the summer for every £500 raised.

Thank you. [email redacted]

P.S I am happy to provide any necessary proof on request.
