I Need a Lawyer

Donation protected
My mother passed away 2 weeks ago, after a year in a nursing home. When I went up to help my sister with the "arrangements",  I found out that she has been using my mother's money to renovate my mother's house, for the past year! She intends to rent it out for her own benefit. She gave my mother's car away to her own daughter! She just spent $1500 on a gorgeous 4 piece stainless steel appliance set, supposedly for my late mother's house, but they are far too big and nice for the existing kitchen. (I'll bet they end up in my sister's house!) My mother was a hoarder, so the house is in very bad condition. My sister and her boyfriend intend to fix it up themselves , on weekends, even though neither one of them is qualified or has much experience. (My sister wouldn't know which end of the hammer to use!)

None of this is okay with me, because I knew nothing about it. My sister thinks she is executor, and says she can do "whatever she wants", but there is no will, so an executer has to be appointed by probate court, and the money has to be accounted for. I have to hire a lawyer to stop her, so we can do this fairly and legally. I am disabled and living on a limited, fixed income. I make it work but it's very, very tight. I don't drive anymore, which is how my sister got away with this for so long.  The lawyer said that she cannot rent it out without my consent. We have to sell the house, or she has to buy me out. The lawyer is giving me a huge break with his retainer, but I still need to come up with $275 by Jan 3rd. I simply don't have it...unless I don't eat or use any utilities for the month.

This sounds like a bad movie theme but it is 100% real life. My life. I am still in shock that my sister would do this to me. We have never been very close, but for the past 18 months she has been unusually kind and supportive, helping me through my breast cancer. Now I know that she was just setting me up!

Please help me stop a greedy sister from stealing my half of the inheritance! I only want what is fair.
