A Cage for Frida’s Canine Sanctuary

Donation protected
Please help us fully cover the funding for a cage for our growing canine sanctuary!

Frida was found at the base of a waterfall in La Vega, Colombia. Frida was by herself begging for food from people who came to visit the waterfall. On the long drive back home to Bogotá, she became car sick - the contents of her stomach were a few french fries, leaves and a lot of liquid. Frida was diagnosed with anemia, mange, fleas and eczema. To top it off she had an engorged tick on her neck.

That was on January 29, 2018. Frida is now in good health. She is a very sweet, gentle and patient dog who gets along with everyone. She loves giving and receiving affection.

Frida has had five canine friends join her since she was rescued.

Vader was found on May 30, 2018 in the mountains of Chita-Suga. He was severely malnourished and blind. Vader is now triple in size and has the sweetest smile.

Abuela was found on September 13, 2018. Abuela was begging for food in the streets of Tenjo. After feasting on tamales with us she took off running because two huge dogs attacked her. We saw she was dragging her legs behind her scraping the fur off her paws. We brought her to the vet and found out that she drags her legs due to a neurological problem most likely caused by an illness she caught as a puppy. Abuela also had three large bite marks completely infected from another dog in a fight for food or territory. Abuela now has fur on her feet and likes to snore. A lot.

Nanuq was found on September 15, 2018. Nanuq was less than 2 months old when he was found crying in the middle of the night, alone on the side of a deserted mountain road. Other than fleas and a ton of worms, he was in good shape and very lucky to be alive. Nanuq is in very good health with a ton of puppy energy.

Max showed up on our property to play with Frida almost daily. When he built up enough trust for us to get closer to him we noticed a 2cm gash on his neck from being chained too tightly. The wound had a terrible smell and was completely open and infected. That was on October 29, 2018. Max was stitched up, healed and now works on building trust with humans again everyday.

Canelo was brought to us by the community as he was in bad shape with nowhere to go. He had a skin fungus and was severely underweight and undersized for his breed and age. Canelo came to us on December 31, 2018.  He continues to put on weight and his fur is changing to dark silky brown as the lack of nutrients caused it to be almost yellow and very dry to the touch.

Help us help more dogs! Even $1 helps us reach our goal to completely fund the cage. Our next goal is to raise enough money to fence the entire property to give them more freedom.

Please pass this on using social media - one share is as valuable as a donation.

Thank you!
