A Tale of Two Cities
Fredericksburg is known for its small-town charm, historic landmarks, and beautiful riverside parks. But its communities suffer from economic and social inequality. Here, a living wage for one adult is $17.44/hour, while the poverty rate is nearly 17%. In the Commonwealth, the minimum wage is $7.25/hour. Furthermore, a recent Oxfam report found that Virginia is the worst state to work in America.

This is why WE MUST ORGANIZE - at our jobs, in our neighborhoods, and in our communities.

Help us Launch the NoVA Worker Center
We are forming the Northern Virginia Worker Center to fight for worker rights in Fredericksburg and surrounding counties. This Center will be a 501(c)(3), tax-exempt charity designed to educate and advocate for low-income and working-class Virginians.

About Us
We are members of activist groups that fight for economic equality, labor rights, and social justice. We advocate for just and favorable conditions at work, freedom from discrimination, and the right to form and join unions. We are dedicated to intersectionality; we seek an inclusive labor movement that serves all people regardless of race, nationality, ethnicity, creed, gender, sexual orientation, age, and ability.

Our Mission
We aim for a more equitable Northern Virginia by building worker power on the job and in our communities. We will achieve our mission through programs like:

·      a worker rights hotline;
·      fair union election agreements;
·      collaborative Know-Your-Rights trainings;
·      worker and community organizing; and
·      partnerships with other grassroots organizations.

Where We Are
We have received our certificate for Articles of Incorporation on June 18, 2019. We drafted our Bylaws and opened our bank account. We have filed our solicitation documents with the Commonwealth of Virginia. We are currently putting our IRS documents together for our 501(c)(3) tax exemption.

How You Can Help
Goal 1: CRUSHED IT!
We have successfully raised $225 and funded our dynamic and engaging website for a year. This website  will help us reach more workers, donors, and partners. We will create events, post educational blogs, and keep fellow workers up to speed with the latest information.

Goal 2: CRUSHED IT. IRS Tax exemption is FULLY FUNDED! It will cost $600 to file it. Since we have the momentum, let's keep it rolling!

Goal 3: TOTALLY SURPASSED IT. PO Box for a year - fully funded for $80!

Goal 4: Stationary! Envelopes, stamps, a corporate records book, business cards and the like. Thanks so much for the outpouring of support and momentum!

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts to help us make this dream a reality. Any help you can give - a donation or a share - is much appreciated.

Solidarity,
