I am a 69 year old handicapped woman in poor health who has become homeless after being widowed recently. I am well educated, and worked in RE for many years, but due to health problems I have not been able to do the field work, nor afford the annual RE fees. I barely scrape by on limited Social security which allows me to cover food, but not much else. I am not a drug addict, alcoholic or mentally ill - just an old, tired, grieving widow. Government subsidized housing has waiting lists of years. I can't survive long term on the streets. I owe about $10,000 on my car that I've been living in, nut I can't afford the remaining payments or liability insurance. To make matters worse, I had an accident that damaged my car. It is in danger of being repossessed and leaving me literally on the open street. I have no family to help me and am completely alone and overwhelmed. As a senior woman, I desperately need safe shelter while I work on regaining my health and mobility. I dream of a warm shower and a safe bed. Can you help me? $20,000 would allow me to fix and pay off my car, reactivate my Realtor membership and obtain safe shelter while I seek a needed knee replacement (I have Medicare) which will help me with my mobility and a chance to work again. I hope it will buy me some time to move up on the subsidized housing lists for my long term shelter need. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
