Jeff and Lynn Godwin were one of few hundreds of families affected by the recent flood on April 29 & 30, 2014 in beautiful Pensacola, FL.  Unfortunately, like so many others they did not have flood insurance. They have lost literally everything including their home, vehicles and personal belongings. Jeff and Lynn have the heart of gold and have always been there to help my family. Please share their story with everyone you know. We are helping them rebuild their lives one dollar at a time. Throughout their turmoil Jeff still has a positive attitude and smile! Thank you so much!

Love,

'WILL YOU TAKE IT WITH YOU WHEN YOU GO?"

Family, I want to tell you the most humbling and catastrophic story.

What would you do if you lost everything that you own today?
Could you handle the stress from that?
If you knew it was going to happen, would you be any different?
Would you tell your family that you love them?
Would you pray to God over them and with them?
Have you even thought of the what if's in your life?
I am in the insurance business and I have dealt with the realities of loss to property and life for a long time. Last night, reality came home to visit me and my community!
Twenty inches of rain in 6 hours will turn a dessert into a raging river in minutes and it did so in my neighborhood. It went from video/pictures of the torrential rain storm stream that was running in the street in front of my house to a raging 20 mile an hour river which left a 5 foot water mark on every wall of my house as well as 4 submerged vehicles in my driveway. We ended up being rescued from my attic at 3 am this morning by a search and rescue boat. Since I am not in a flood zone, I did not buy flood insurance. I lost everything that I own in a few short hours, but I was so surprised at how at peace my family is.
I think it is because the wellbeing of my family was more important than the material world.
I think it could be the fact that we prayed together for God's mercy as we watched the water slowly rise to the attic and if we would be able to get out of there alive.
I think it is because as we grow older, we grow wiser.
I think we all have choices to make in our moments of catastrophy to reset the boundaries of importance in our lives.
I think that in that moment of fear, I did as I have many times before when things were out of my control, I gave it up to God. He provided me and my family the exit to safety and the wearwithall to survive and be at peace.
I hope that all of you find the peace in your heart that I feel at that critical moment of your life.
I think that last night may have been God's final test on me before recieving this blessing and I feel that it was planned
by him all along.
I think God sometimes test us to keep us focused on what is important in life. Do you?
Your humble friend here and always! Jeffrey
