Greetings Lovely People,
My Name is DeVante Cosby, and I am a recent college graduate as of May 2020. I am currently employed with Walgreens and live on the Northside of Chicago. With racial tensions escalating in America, I need an escape and would very much like to visit a country in Africa. I have never been to Africa, but there is so much beauty about Africa that I know will be healing for me. The first country I plan to visit is Nigeria as I have Yoruba ancestry and it will help get in touch with my roots. Growing up, I was taught that Africa was poor and full of disease, however, that is a dangerous narrative I have unlearned after having various conversations with many of my African friends from various countries. I believe that every Black Person should visit Africa at least once to have a deeper understanding of our history.
I am making this Gofundme to help with travel expenses such as visa, passport, plane tickets, Lodging and meals. If you can donate anything or share on your social media, I would greatly appreciate you. This is a trip that I have been dreaming of taking for 3 years. Due to Covid-19 My tentative departure date will be February 11 and the return date will be February 24. I will adjust as more information comes out.
