Support For Angel

From Angel's loving Daughter,  Ciara,

On Thursday afternoon, August 16th 2018, I received a disturbing phone call from my Mother, Angel, that when spoke, was slurring her words and said she was having difficulty moving her arms,  I immediately contacted 9-1-1 to have them send an ambulance and take her to the hospital.
Upon entering the Emergency Room she was alert, but she wasn’t right. She was admitted and went under numerous tests which at first showed no signs of a blood clot. After a few hours, her condition seemed to worsen and she was unable to move her arm, her eye wasn’t able to follow the optical-exam and the side of her face appeared to be paralyzed, all on the left side.  At this time, the doctors believe that she had suffered from a second, more major Stroke, after a second CT Scan, they observed a large blood clot on her brain which had to be removed quickly. After successfully making it through the blood clot surgery, they ran subsequent tests and observed significant swelling of the brain, which required a Craniotomy, which is a procedure to remove a portion of the skull to allow for swelling to reduce. This procedure was even more life-threatening due to the blood thinners which were in her body, which could have caused uncontrollable bleeding and hemorrhaging, possibly taking her life. She made it through.
She is getting the best care. The doctors and nurses are taking care of her at this moment to the best of their ability. She is medicated to keep her calm and comfortable due to the extreme surgeries that she has had to go through in the last few days. Although she can not communicate, at times she is aware of her surroundings and what is going on. Nurses have said that when they come in to the room to do something “she doesn’t like” she will kick her right leg! That's my Mother! Fistey!
Unfortunately, the doctors have already confirmed what we knew; that although the exact extent of the damage is unknown, her recovery will be a long one. The motor skills, speech and other life-skills she likely has lost, will likely have to be relearned through extensive physical therapy and she will not be able to live on her own for an extended period of time. Although Angel is currently stable and resting, her journey in recovering from this situation is just beginning. A long road to recovery, rehabilitation, and unforeseen medical costs lie ahead.

WHAT ANGEL NEEDS FROM US

Angel has positively impacted so many lives. She is a strong, independent woman. A single Mother to a Son in college and a Daughter raising a young child. Grandmother, Sister, Daughter, Aunt and friend to so many. While medical  insurance is helping, we ask for your assistance with uncovered medical expenses, current expenses to maintain her household until future arrangements can be made, and assessing best care for future surgeries, rehab and equipment to give her best opportunities to live her best life. We all know Angel is the life of the party and this will be very difficult for her but we also know she's  stubborn and a fighter. Your donations will help with this life altering illness.  We ask that you please continue to pray for Angel’s full and speedy recovery.

ALL FUNDS RAISED WILL GO EXCLUSIVELY TO ANGEL’S MEDICAL AND DAILY NEEDS FOR HER

Most importantly, the family would like to acknowledge and thank all for the overwhelming support from both Angel’s family and friends.  Angel’s family does appreciate all of your calls, texts and prayers and continued support during this trying time.
