Little Feet Big Hearts

Tax deductible
Dear friends and family,

You all know how much I love my job...how could I not with kids like Bella in my life. Well there is one thing you might not know that I hate about my job, insurance companies limiting how often kids can come for therapy. Even more frustrating is that the kids that need the most sessions per week often have the worst insurance coverage.

Imagine if you had a child that needed therapy and your insurance company told you they would only cover 20 visits/year. What if both you and your spouse worked so you couldn't get any state assistance? Now imagine that your child needs physical therapy twice a week, occupation therapy once a week and speech therapy once a week? At 4 sessions per week that gets your child 5 weeks of covered services...about middle of February you need to make some tough decisions.

With a large hospital discount once insurance runs out, each therapy session will cost you $45. How many visits per week could you afford out of pocket for the rest of the year? Could you afford $180 to keep all 4 weekly visits? Could you do that for 47 weeks to get them through the year at $8460?

If you had to make cut backs on your child's therapy visits, how would you decide which therapy is the most important: the one to help them crawl or walk, the one to help them get dressed and write or the one to help them eat and talk?

If you were me, how would you help a parent make that decision? Well, one thing I can do is offer them financial assistance thru a grant called Little Feet Big Hearts that my clinic developed and raises money for.

Basically how it works is simple, a family with insurance limitations or needing financial assistance, gives me their therapy bills and I send them to the foundation that houses our grant money and they send a check to the hospital paying off the bill. Assuming there are funds available, each family can receive up to $5000 per year.

Currently there is -$3,300 in the grant since I promised out more dollars knowing our event is around the corner.

Every single dollar in this fund goes directly to paying off therapy bills....nothing else. To date this grant has paid over $120,000 in therapy bills.

We are holding our second annual Walk for Little Feet in June and I am on a mission to raise at least $1500 before the event.

I will make it super simple for you to help....you dont have to wonder how much to donate...what will make me keep you as a friend...what will make you look bad to everyone else that donates more than you...I am not asking you to even show up for the walk (although that would be great of course!)..I am just asking you to donate $45 to cover one therapy session for one of our patients.

The foundation that assists me with this grant is willing to match donations dollar for dollar this year so your donation has double the effect.

This grant is something I am super passionate about and with yearly changes in insurance coverage, it becomes more and more important to more and more families.

Thanks for reading this and for your $45!!!
Blessings,
Carla
