Tso-i Armachain- Hypoplastic Left Heart

Donation protected
My name is Keena Youngdeer Armachain, I am from Cherokee, NC, and already a mother of one handsome boy and a beautiful girl (who is celebrating her 2nd birthday in the picture with me).  I am currently pregnant with my third child. When my husband and I found out our new baby would be  another girl, we were so happy and excited. We began developing plans  to welcome our new daughter, whom we plan to name Tso-i (pronounced Zoe, just written in traditional Cherokee phonics).

At a recent doctor's appointment my worst nightmare came true. I was told that my little girl has a rare heart condition and I should travel to Asheville, to see a specialist. The specialist  gave me grim news, and suggested I visit a doctor in Charlotte to determine Tso-i's exact problem and chances of surrvival.

The doctor's visit in Charlotte confirmed our worst fears. They said that Tso-i suffers from a rare condition called Hypoplastic left heart syndrom. Hypoplastic left heart syndrome is a complex and rare heart defect present at birth (congenital). In hypoplastic left heart syndrome, the left side of the heart is critically underdeveloped.

The Doctors in Charlotte told us that they did not expect Tso-i to surrvive delivery and if she did then they didn't expect her to live one week.

Although the doctors in Charlotte said surrvival chance is slim, I refuse to give up on my daughter.

Research shows that Medication  can be given to prevent closure of the connection (ductus arteriosus) between the right and left sides, followed by either surgery or a heart transplant, is necessary to treat hypoplastic left heart syndrome. With advances in care, the outlook for babies born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome is better now than in the past.

I have faith and know that there is chance of Tso-i's surrvival.  My husband and I are planning to travel to Boston Children's Hospital for a second opinion.

We are leaving Monday, May 5th, 2014.  We are having a Frybread Fundraiser to raise funds for travel to Boston, Accomodations and Tso-i's medical expenses. We hope and pray we can get better news in Boston.

This Go Fund Me Account was suggested by a friend as a way of gaining contributions from those that can not attend our Frybread Dinner, or who now live outside of our immediate community.

Thank You for taking the time to read our story and donate if you can.  If you are unable to donate, Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers, because right now we need all the prayers for baby Tso-i we can get.

Lots of Love,
