Love for Liam

When you think of a hero, most often an adult figure comes to mind. However, heroes don't always have to be grown-ups. Heroes can come in little packages and can show tremendous strength and determination, too. There is someone real special who is redefining the word hero and his name is Liam. He is a sweet little boy that will brighten up anyone's day. He has the most memorable smile that would melt anyone's heart and has the most adorable laugh. Underneath that sweet smile and joyous cackle you wouldn't know that he is fighting a rare brain condition called Pontocerebellar Hypoplasia, where the cerebellum and the pons are underdeveloped. The cerebellum is the part of the brain that coordinates movement and the pons sends signals from the cerebellum to the rest of the brain. As a result of this condition, individuals have difficulty with basic life functions, such as eating, talking, walking, and breathing. It also results in delayed development and a shortened life span.

His family is working very hard to make every day as memorable and fun-filled as possible for Liam. They are also working hard to keep him healthy and growing. They want to give Liam as many opportunities as possible so that he can redefine what is possible living with this condition. But, they need your help. Times are getting hard due to constant specialist appointments, unexpected hospital visits, medical equipment and supplies, and therapy sessions to help give Liam the best shot possible at reaching any milestone, no matter how big or small.
