Yvette and I have been a team of two fighting for justice since we met in 2012. Bonded by a love for our Savior and His call to seek justice (Micah 6:8), we have been stirring each other up to love and good works (Hebrews 10:24) and striving side by side, fighting together for the Good News and not intimidated by our opponents (Philippians 1:27-28).
Our passion to seek justice for the those caught up in the clutches of sex trafficking has taken us through many trainings, events and volunteer opportunities through organizations such as R.E.S.T. and Called to Rescue that are directly involved in fighting the sex trade. While serving with those organizations, we found ourselves anxious to be serving the poor in our local area. Along with another friend, we began serving hot meals on the streets of Olympia and Lacey. Shortly after this grassroots ministry began, I had to relocate to California due to the military. Yvette, Richard and Tina (our dedicated friends from church) kept up the outreach to Oly's homeless and have really established friendship and rapport with many of them.
We feel the Lord asking us to dedicate our entire summer to serve the poor and oppressed. We first considered going to India or Indonesia to serve with anti-trafficking organizations, but after much prayer and fasting, the Lord told us to stay and help those in our own community.
June 23 through July 3rd, we will be serving with San Francisco City Impact, a ministry that "offers three types of work: RELIEF for those in urgent need, REHABILITATION for those wanting a way out, and DEVELOPMENT to ensure the cycles of poverty and despair are not repeated." Our hope is to better the existing street outreach ministry in Oly by implementing what we learn from City Impact's ministry in the Tenderloin district of San Fran. After serving with them, we will head up to Washington to immediately begin this process. We will be joining up with the ongoing weekly ministry of Richard and Tina but will be adding on 4 more days to the existing service days.
Along with feeding, ministering, building and strengthening our relationships with Oly's poor, we seek to organize outreaches to those in the sex trade in Olympia and Lacey, such as the newly opened strip club and the many bikini barista stands.
Here is our breakdown of projected time spent serving and costs:
13 days volunteering at City Impact: $0
Daily commute into City Impact from Pittsburgh: $260
Our food while in San Fran: $260
Travel (to Oly) expenses & food: $558
Oly's homeless outreach:
16 days of meals and supplies: $1550
Propane for homeless: $60
Gas for our travel in Oly: $100
Outreach materials (Bibles, stoves, socks, tarps, etc.): $500

We need prayer! Please pray for protection, wisdom, sensitivity to the Holy Spirit's promptings and favor among the people we meet. Pray for their open hearts, their honesty in their sufferings and needs and the softening of their hearts to be ministered to.
Please give. We can't do this without your financial support. Any unused funds will be used only for the continuing ministry and needs of Oly's homeless. This isn't just a one-time mission. Reaching Oly's homeless and poor is ongoing through the work of the individuals dedicated to serving them. Until now, these individuals have been using their owns funds to pay for the needs of these beloved people.
