In order to join a Drum Corps a series of highly competitive auditions are held to determine which members will be offered a position. Those selected from the audition will begin training for summer tour which begins in early June and ends in mid-August (63 days). A Corps typically stays in a local school depending on where the next competition is located. The Corps will sleep on the gymnasium floor, practice on the school's football field and eat at the school. The Summer Tour involves 12-16 hour rehearsal days in the intense heat and traveling across 20 cites and several states ranging from Tennessee to Minnesota and everywhere in between to compete against rival Corps. A Drum Corp's Show is anywhere from 8-12 minutes long and is constantly refined throughout the summer.
I created this page because one of my biggest passions in life is music and I'm really excited to be a part of the Corps. The cost of participating in Drum Corps is very expensive, in fact my tuition for Music City Corps is $2,250.00. The tuition covers transportation, food, instruction, housing and much more. The other $200 is for extra expenses like a new pair of tennis shoes so my feet won't hurt. Absolutely anything at all will help, even a dollar. Even a penny! Any amount brings me closer to achieving my dream! Sharing this on Facebook and Twitter would mean the world to me! Thank you so much for reading my request. Hope you enjoy listening to the Corps Song, The Tennessee Waltz, performed by the Corps. Video Below.
