Riley's Recovery

My friend Jill Riley (I’ve known her for 20 years!) has a 5-year-old grandson named Riley. 

On this coming Tuesday, Riley will undergo a high-risk surgery at the Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee to remove his colon.   According to Riley’s doctors, he is “out of options” to improve his condition… and so his mom and Dad have bravely decided to attempt this surgery.

You should know that since his birth. Riley has been hospitalized numerous times.  Due to his auto immune disease, asthma and other health issues, he has been unable to attend school.  His Mom, Jessica is his primary caregiver and his Dad Robert works full time to support the family.  Robert has missed work frequently due to Riley’s medical issues and the family has been all over the Midwest, including Mayo, in multiple attempts to create better outcomes for Riley.

I asked Jill’s permission to start this Go Fund Me page to support Jessica and Robert as they help Riley’s recovery from this surgery.  Riley will be in Milwaukee at the Children’s Hospital for about two weeks, depending on how the procedure goes.  During this time, his parents will attempt to keep their household going while they attend to Riley.

So, if you can, make a contribution here.  Or, send a check made out to Robert and/or Jessica Hansberry at my home address and I’ll be sure it gets to them.  Why to me?  I will write the thank you notes so that Jessica and Robert can focus on Riley.

Any amount is helpful.  100% will go to Jessica and Robert.  I’ll post updates on this site as I get them from Jill.
