Hello friends and family!
I am currently an undergraduate at UC Davis studying Animal Science. I have been blessed with the rare opportunity to go to Guatemala, specifically in and near Guatemala City from July 10 to July 22, 2014.
I am going with a well known group called VIDA. VIDA is a nonprofit organization that stresses cultural integration and opening of the mind and heart to global healthcare for both people and animals. There are 3 core programs: General Medicine, Dental Health, and Veterinary Medicine. I am in the Veterinary Medicine program.
I will be volunteering to participate in activities such as:
-anesthesia induction
-catheter placement
-surgery performed under AVMA/ASV guidelines
-instrument handling
-large animal surgery
-suturing techniques and a surgical overview
-vaccinations
-and many more!
In developing countries like Guatemala, healthcare is not easy to come across. Therefore, animal care is naturally even more difficult to encounter. Governments are unable to fund animal health services due to financial constraints.
Your support will provide you with the satisfaction of knowing you have radically changed the lives of families who need, but cannot afford animal care. Your support will also help me be a part of this great organization's vision. Last but not least, your support will allow me to actively engage myself as a volunteer in the veterinary field of our team.
With a collaborative effort from the medical, dental, and veterinary team, we aim to supply Guatemalans with the best care for their loved ones at no cost.
For this trip, I need to raise a total of $2950 and I need your help - financially and/or through prayer. Any amount, even $1 would be greatly appreciated!
