"Got Guts" Brandon Fillingham's Fight

My son Brandon Fillingham has been fighting a severe form of crohns disease for most of his life. He was diagnosed when he was 9. Shortly thereafter, he perforated and was left with an ileostomy that was reversed after 6 months. Brandon just turned 30 a few weeks ago. He has had numerous surgeries and many hospital visits and SOME periods of remission throughout his young adulthood. Last August Brandon developed an abcess on his large intestine that ruptured and caused many perforations throughout his large bowel. He was left with an open belly and on a ventilator and wound vac for over a week. He was fighting for his life. Eventually after many washouts his belly was closed but only to be reopened within four days to remove more dead bowel. After over a month in the hospital he came home at 99lbs, an open belly, and 3 bags attached to his abdomin. Since then most of his belly has closed but he has been living with the 3 bags which collect waste from whats left of his intestines. Everynight for 12 hrs he hooks up to TPN which supplies him with the nutrition that he needs. May 16 Brandon will undergo a 12hr surgery at Upstate Medical University to try and repair the fistula and remove whats left of his colon. This is a very dangerous procedure which could lead to many complications. I am a single mother who has been taking care of Brandon by myself for the past year. I have had to take many days off from work to care for him and now with another surgery just around the corner I am terrified of the financial impact that this will have on us.
