K.E.C.S.S Goes to Europe!

Kingsborough Early College Secondary School (KECSS) is planning its first international field trip to England, France and the Netherlands and is seeking your help in making our students’ dreams come true.

KECSS is a unique and diverse school community. In conjunction with CUNY and the Early College Initiative, KECSS affords all of its high school students an opportunity to earn an Associate’s Degree from Kingsborough Community College at no cost while still enrolled in high school. Last year we graduated our first class of 83 students, 47 of whom received their full associates degrees while the rest accumulated partial college credit.

As a Title I school located in the Bensonhurst neighborhood of Brooklyn serving low-income families, most of our students lack the opportunity and the resources to travel abroad. International travel is an extremely beneficial experience for high school students. It helps build perspective, encourages empathy and exposes our students to cultures and traditions different from their own. International travel also serves as a catalyst for building self-esteem and preparing students for the global nature of 21st century professions.

KECSS is planning on taking 45 of our high school students on a 12-day educational trip to England, France and the Netherlands. Students who have demonstrated high academic achievement and strong school leadership received invitations to participate. Participation is conditional on enrollment in a European History and Culture enrichment course that aims to prepare the students for this trip. The goal of this course and this trip is to foster the growth of an international perspective and to immerse them in the backgrounds of the various sites we will visit while abroad.

With your support our students can have a life-enhancing, learning experience. All donations are tax deductible and will go directly to funding a student’s travel expenses. To help a student experience the educational benefits of international travel, simply enclose click on the donate the button!

I would like to thank you for your support and becoming a part of our endeavor. If you have any queries regarding our fund management policy, tour itinerary, or our organization, please feel free to contact me. You are always welcome to visit our school and take a tour.
