<div>Desde hace casi ocho meses, mi abuela y yo hemos sido sus principales cuidadoras. Ella, con más de 70 años, hace lo que puede, y yo intento equilibrar mi trabajo con estar presente para él. Pero mantener a un hombre adulto dependiente las 24 horas del día es extremadamente costoso, y los tratamientos para su rehabilitación —terapias físicas, medicamentos, consultas médicas— no han parado. Tampoco sabemos cuánto tiempo más serán necesarios, porque su recuperación es incierta y podría tomar años.

<div>Chente siempre fue un hombre independiente, aventurero, generoso. Era de esos que nunca dudaban en ayudar a los demás, y hoy sus amigos siguen siendo una red de apoyo vital para él. Pero los gastos nos han rebasado. Tenemos deudas acumuladas y ya no contamos con los recursos para seguir su tratamiento como se merece.
