Maddy >> The New School for Jazz

Hello!
My name is Maddy Kirgo. I am a YoungArts 2014 Finalist in Jazz Voice, a US Presidential Scholar Semifinalist, I love Jazz, and I love singing.

I come from a musical family, so I've always understood the addicting joy that music is capable of creating. I want to spread this joy, and a BFA in Jazz Studies with a minor in Education will make that possible!

Namely, I would like to earn this degree at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. This school appeals to me because while developing my jazz ear and technique I will also be exposed to the wonderful music scene in New York City.

After college, I wish to use the general knowledge of music that I will have gained through my education to bring communities"” specifically those torn apart by poverty"”back together again. Wholeheartedly, I believe music has this power.

In order to make my dreams a reality, however, I'm asking for your help. I don't have all the necessary funds to support my studies at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, so I've created this profile in the hopes of avoiding large loans.
