This is me, Jackie, on my return from my third trip to Bhutan, where I have befriended Jamie Vaughan, who runs a dog rescue in Paro, Bhutan.
She has in the past few years been rescuing larger farm animals and rehabilitating them. I have with me the cast for Besa the mule's leg which was severely injured while carrying corrugated metal roofing. I sent the cast up to Rocky Mountain Equine Hospital in Sheridan, Wyoming - where an orthotic was made and sent back to Bhutan, and now Besa is learning to walk with it! As you can imagine, this is a very expensive endeavor! Jamie had also rescued Maya, the mare, in 2012, who had been hit by a truck. Jamie was able to get Dr. Ted Vlahous from the RMEH to come to Bhutan, with the support of the government, to operate and put her leg back together! Jamie has been paying for this all on her own and through donations from friends near and far. I want to reach out to everyone to support this amazingly devoted woman, who cares for over 150 dogs and now a mule, pig, goats, a bull and cats. I have never met anyone so hard working, strong in the face of incredible suffering, never giving up despite the challenges, and good natured about it all. I've spent many days going around Paro with her, tending to and sometimes rescuing the many stray dogs that live there, many of whom recognize her and come running, with wagging tails and barks and licks. Please donate to help Jamie with her work and I will send out more stories and pictures as time goes on.
Thank you from Besa and all the animals at "Barnyard Bhutan"! And especially me...
