Travel, Lodging and Food Expenses

Our 16 year old daughter Shianne Monique Sambrano was diagnosed with Adolescent Idopathic Scoliosis two years ago. AIS is an abnormal curvature of the spine that appears in late childhood or adolescence. Her curvature over the past 2 years has progressively worsened, from 35 degress to 54 degress. With it continuing to worsen she can develop heart and lung problems in the future. The ribcage will be pushed harder against the heart and lungs, causing physical damage. Strain or damage to the heart and lungs increases the chances of lung infections developing, such as pneumonia and heart failure. Shianne has  to have surgery to correct this problems before it gets any worse. Shianne will be undergoing Spinal Fusion Surgery in July in Pasedena, California at Huntington Memorial Hospital. We will be in California approximately 3 weeks if there are no complications after the surgery. We will have to make several trips back to California for follow up appointments due to a 6 month recovery process. Surgery is very costly, The average cost of the surgery including medical expenses such as screws, rods and hospital recovery time would cost anywhere from $100,000 to $120,000 if there are no complications. We will be out of network so our insurance will only cover 65% of the cost. We are asking friends and family to donate if they are able to, this money will help out with expenses we will have during our stay in California, which will help with lodging, food and any other expenses we will have.
