Help Charlie Moore

After a very difficult winter, Charlie was hospitalized in March when he broke his hip after getting stuck in mud at the bottom of his ramp and falling out of his wheelchair.  Charlie spent almost 2 months in the hospital, undergoing multiple surgeries and treatments. In late April, he was informed that his only option was to go into a nursing home. Having had a tragic experience at a long term care facility 2 years ago, he refused to consent to this option, choosing instead to go home to live in his apartment.

Charlie requires the daily care of a nurse but his health insurance company will not pay for home care. We have hired 2 private nurses to care for him at the cost of $50 per day, 7 days a week. Because Charlie's funds are extremely limited, we have decided to reach out to family and friends and ask for their help in pooling resources to cover the cost of Charlie's care so he can stay in his home. 

In addition to covering the costs of home care, the money raised will be used to purchase nutrition supplements not covered by his insurance, to purchase an apartment sized refrigerator, and if funds allow, to pay for an operation to correct disabling cataracts in both eyes. His insurance company will only pay for basic lenses that would correct his vision only partially. After Charlie's physican told him he "wouldn't put these lenses in the eyes of a dog", Charlie has opted not to have the operation until he can pay for the better lenses that would correct his vision entirely.
