Help me get my wife out of our basement!

Crafters and Artisans for Rescued Animals (CARA) is a registered nonprofit founded in 2020 dedicated to pairing animal rescues and wildlife rehabilitators with talented craftspeople who create custom-made items to help animals in need. Volunteer crafters donate their time and talents to sew, knit, crochet, or construct a wide variety of products for domestic and wild animals alike. Some are universal necessities, like blankets and bedding; some are bespoke creations to fit individual animals, like bandage wraps or sweaters; and many more are completely new and unique designs that have been developed and tested in partnership with rescues to meet a very specific need. Collaboration with rescue organizations is central to CARA’s mission, and rescuers and crafters work together closely to ensure that all patterns, materials, and finished products are safe for the animals using them. CARA works only with reputable, licensed rescues, veterinarians, and rehabilitation facilities, and has facilitated over 1,000 donations to more than 370 animal-focused organizations in the United States, Canada, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. While most donations are made-to-order, CARA also maintains a supply of standard disaster-relief items that can be sent out on short notice. CARA is always seeking donors and volunteers to continue this work; for more information or to contribute to animals in need, visit CARA’s website or their Facebook page.                                                                   CARA was founded by Bridget Battease in January of 2020. The headquarters for CARA is currently in the basement of a single family home in Scotia, NY.  The basement literally looks like a distribution center and the amount of packages that come in on a daily basis are comparable to that of  a UPS warehouse. CARA volunteers typically make and pay for the shipping of these products out of their own pockets. CARA currently has no financial assistance or donors. These volunteers do this out of kindness and compassion for the animals that they are helping.                             CARA really needs a warehouse space for storage and distribution. This has grown to a very large undertaking and in order to continue to  provide these lifesaving products for animals, a bigger space is needed.                                                                     If this mission jumps out at you, tugs at your heart strings or if you have some money you want to just throw around....please consider donating to this wonderful organization. Your donation could make a huge difference in the lives of many animals who are in need of the life saving products that CARA continues to provide.
