Support for Our Friend Baheejah Threats!

Family and friends we need your help now! Our sister Baheejah is in need of your love, encouragement, prayers, and support as she struggles through these trying times.
Baheejah is currently fighting for her life against a diagnosis of a very rare Stage IV cancer named Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor (also known as GIST for short) with liver metastasis. This cancer is aggressive and must be watched closely by a team of Oncologist GIST Specialists. The cancer has filled her liver with numerous tumors and lesions. She has already had 87% of her stomach removed. On April 17th, 2014 Baheejah received a call from her doctor stating that the next plan for her treatment is to undergo a surgery in hopes to stop the blood flow to the tumor. Her surgery is scheduled to take place on May 8th. In order to closely monitor any changes with the tumors her regular follow-up appointments have been changed from every three months to every two months starting in June. Baheejah is determined to fight this battle to its very end and we want to be there for her every step of the way.
It's no secret that living with cancer is hard and costly for one to endure. Due to the nature of Baheejah's cancer she is no longer able to work. She was given a less than 5% survival rate in the first five years of living with her cancer. However, we know that GOD has the final say, NOT man! We are praying for her and with her to beat this beast. We do not want a lack of finances to cause her any unnecessary stress, hold up any chances of progress in her medical care, or damper her spirits. We want her to focus on getting healthy. Baheejah has expressed to us that she does not know how she's going to afford her upcoming surgery or any future surgery expenses, travel expenses to/from Houston for each visit, daily lodging, parking, gas, vehicle maintenance, food, medications, and not mention all of her other household and living expenses being on a limited income. We could see how this list could affect her well-being and overall health progress. Stress and uncertainties could bring about other medical concerns that she does not need and we do not want that for her. We love and support Baheejah!

Our sister Baheejah is such a fighter and tries not to let her face or actions show her struggles. She's a great example of a strong woman and definitely one we admire. She has always worked and been able to provide for herself, her family, and others. This GIST prognosis has definitely changed her outlook on life, love and happiness as well as ours. Within the past three years Baheejah was laid off from an eleven and a half year employment position as a Project Implementation Manager (March 2011), diagnosed with Stage IV Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor cancer, lost her 10 year residency at her home and had to move in with family to be closely monitored (March 2012), was notified she wouldn't be able to return to work because of her cancer and applied for Social Security Benefits (March 2013), and informed of cancer progression, surgery, bi-monthly visits to MD Anderson, Houston, TX (April 2014) which is over four and a half hours away from where she currently resides. Please help us to help her ease some of the stress by donating what you can afford to her cause. We pray that this will allow her more time to focus on getting healthy, being here for her family/loved ones/friends, get things in their perspective order, and ease some of her financial burdens.
